Yes, the Travel X Foot Cushion is approved for use on Qantas and Jetstar flights.

Qantas made the change in August 2026, and Jetstar followed a few weeks later. Both airlines now allow inflatable footwell cubes on board. The rules are based on product specifications rather than brands, and Qantas Group has confirmed in writing that the Travel X Foot Cushion meets them.

The Travel X Foot Cushion is the only inflatable cube with an air safety release valve that's approved on Qantas and Jetstar without paying for a pump you have to leave at home.

What do the Qantas and Jetstar rules say?

Under the published Qantas and Jetstar guidelines, inflatable cubes must:

• Inflate and deflate manually. Battery-powered pumps and self-inflating devices can't be used on board.
• Have a quick-release valve or another way to deflate quickly. Qantas asks that the valve faces the aisle.
• Allow your child's seatbelt to be fastened, unfastened and adjusted as normal.
• Fit within the space in front of the seat without affecting other passengers' comfort, screens, tray tables, seat recline, legroom or access to their seat.

Cubes are carried as part of your carry-on baggage allowance. They can only be used once you're airborne and the seatbelt sign is off, and must be packed away whenever the seatbelt sign is on or the cabin crew ask.

Which seats can I use it in on Qantas?

This includes QantasLink flights. Cubes can be used in Economy and Premium Economy only, and never in emergency exit or bulkhead rows.

Widebody aircraft (A380, A330, Boeing 787): window or middle seats.

Narrowbody aircraft (A321XLR, A220, A319, A320, Boeing 737, Dash 8, E190, Fokker 100): window seats only.

You can bring up to two cubes if your family or travelling group occupies a whole block of seats. If the right seat isn't available on your flight, the cube can't be used.

Which seats can I use it in on Jetstar?

Jetstar's guidelines apply to Jetstar Airways (JQ) domestic and international flights. Cubes can't be used in aisle seats, extra legroom or exit row seats, Business Class, or bulkhead seats.

Airbus A320/A321: window seat (A or F). A second cube can go in the middle seat (B or E) only if your family or travelling group occupies the whole block of three.

Boeing 787: window seat (A or J), or the middle seat of the centre block (E). A second cube can go in the middle seat beside a window seat only if your group occupies the whole block of three.

A maximum of two cubes can be used per family or travelling group. Book your seats with this in mind, as the cube still needs cabin crew approval on the day.

How to fly with your Foot Cushion on Qantas or Jetstar

1. Book the right seat for your aircraft using the seat guides above.
2. If you have the Self-Inflating Foot Cushion, twist out the pump before you fly and leave it at home or pack it in your checked luggage.
3. Pack the cushion in your carry-on.
4. Show the cabin crew before you set it up.
5. Once you're airborne and the seatbelt sign is off, inflate by hand and place the cushion in the footwell with the valve facing the aisle.
6. Make sure your child's seatbelt can still be fastened and adjusted.
7. Deflate and pack it away whenever the seatbelt sign comes on.
